- What We Do -
Divine Right is a "free" MUD hosting service. That is to say that you donate once ($20 USD is suggested) and you get your account for as long as you want to use it after that. Additional donations are always gratefully accepted, but I won't hassle you about it. This hosting is designed for those who can't afford to pay for hosting, as well as those just starting out learning to use linux, or learning to program. I provide free technical support via email and instant messenger. In most cases I am happy to show you how to do things, but I will not do them for you. Learning to program can be a great way to get ahead in life, but you won't learn anything from having somebody else do all the work.
- Who We Are -
I have been playing, programming for and hosting MUDs since the late '90s. I started taking programming classes in high school. I went on to earn a Bachelor's of Science from The Evergreen State College in Computer Science. I have worked at several companies as a software engineer, including GemStone, Vidiom, and Intel. I am an Eagle Scout, and in some ways I consider running Divine Right to be my personal form of community service. There are a small number of people who have been running games here for a very long time, and to whom I have taught a great deal. They have also taught me more than their fair share.
- How To Get Hosting -
Getting hosted at Divine Right can be as simple as sending me an email and asking. I don't accept everyone, and while I do make an effort to respond to every email, sometimes I fail to do so. I prefer to host those who can't afford hosting elsewhere, or those who run CoffeeMUD and can't find another host that supports Java. I look for people with interesting or unique projects, or who are doing this as a way to learn new skills. If I reply to your email and agree to host you, simply use the button below and send in your $20. I'll have your account set up within about a day of receiving your donation.
If you are interested in hosting here, please email me before donating.
